Brand Your Business on Social Networks

Is Blogging Challenging for Small Businesses?

It is for me and I hope it is for you, too. Having a web site doesn`t necessarily imply that you need to have a blog. There are some businesses that don`t need one, but I`m sure that 97% of the online businesses can write engaging content about their area of expertise.

Before starting a blog you have to decide if you will be able to write rich content on a long term basis or afford to pay someone to do it. It`s ok to write more articles when you just started the blog and, in time, upload new blog posts according to a schedule. It`s also ok to write only one blog post a week if it`s quality material. Adding new content to your web site only for the sake of seeing hundreds of entries posted in one month it`s not a safe policy.

Blogging means that you have to start and maintain a relationship with your audience. If your readers like your posts, in time you will have a loyal audience, ready to give a real feedback to your posts. Comments like I like this post, Awesome article and so on are not very helpful for the blogger. Readers should state why they liked that blog post, how it helped them, and so on. That`s why writers need to write in an engaging style and make the readers want to express their opinions no matter if they are positive or negative. It`s best when a reader contradicts you than when you get a comment like those mentioned earlier.

Five Ideas for Blogging
A lot of business owners don`t have a clue of what they should write about. Because small businesses don`t have a marketing department, businessmen find it difficult to always have great ideas for the blogs post. If this is the case for you, then you should hire a writer to do this job.

Blog posts should be written for a niche audience, this way starting a new communication channel with your readers.

1. A good blog should focus on solving readers` problems by promoting the company`s products. What is your company selling? Find out why people look for that products or services in the first place and start giving them small hints. If your ideas are good, you`ll see how traffic will explode.

2. Present your work step by step through your blog. Convert your blog into your online portfolio with before and after works. This idea is great for home improvement contractors, car customization, etc.

3. Illustrate some of your client`s problems and write about the advices you have given to them. It`s important to give partial advices of how you resolved those problems. Don`t write detailed answers because soon enough you will find out that nobody will ask for your help if they can receive it for free. Let some of your knowledge for the consultation hours; otherwise your blog will start working against you by making you lose clients.

4. Write detailed reviews about your products, make short video presentations and record testimonials.

5. You can post news in your area of expertise and comment some of them. Also, you can post reviews for different types of products you`ve used.

Blogging can be both fun and tiring. ‘Serious` businesses should have a professional looking blog. You can also adopt a less protocolar image if you`re a creative person. In the end, all that matters is that you focus your message to your niche audience.
